Respite...A Gift of Time According to ARCH National Respite Network May 2007, "Respite" refers to temporary relief for caregivers and families caring for those with disabilities, chronic or terminal illnesses, or the elderly. Respite allows families to take a break from the daily routine of care giving. This in turn, helps to support the family unit. The mission of the Northern Nevada RAVE Family Foundation is to improve the well-being of families by providing respite to those caring for young and adult children with special needs. NNRFF accomplishes this by training youth volunteers to care for these special children and by providing vouchers for families to choose appropriate respite options. The vision of NNRFF is to shape our community’s perceptions through life-changing respite care experiences that allow people we serve to realize their full potential.
